Hide the details before you share

Hushpix covers phone numbers, addresses, faces, QR codes and other private details in your photos and screenshots, with a solid cover, pixelation, blur or an emoji. Your photos are processed on your phone, never on our servers.

See you this weekend!

Cover style

A solid cover is recommended for sensitive text.

Pixelation and blur can be partly reversed. For numbers, names and other text, a solid cover is safer.

How it works

Three steps, all on your phone

  1. Open a photo

Pick an image with the Android photo picker, or share it to Hushpix from another app. Only the image you choose is opened.

  2. Cover what’s private

Brush over details or draw a box, ellipse or lasso. With Hushpix Pro, on-device AI finds text, faces and QR codes for you.

  3. Check, then share

Look over the whole image, then save or share a new copy. Your original stays as it is, and location and camera details are left out.

Privacy

Your photos stay on your phone

Editing and AI recognition run on your device. We don’t upload your images, recognized text or editing history. There are no accounts and no ads.

  • Processed on the device

Text recognition, face and QR code detection, and finding addresses and similar details in text all happen on your phone.

  • Only the photo you choose

Hushpix uses the Android photo picker, so it doesn’t need access to your whole photo library. On Android 8 and 9, saving to the gallery asks for storage permission.

  • Clean copies

Exports are new images, without the original’s EXIF location or camera details. Your original is never overwritten.

  • Nothing kept for long

Copies made for sharing are removed from the app’s cache on a later launch, once they are 24 hours old. Drafts stay in the app’s private storage until you export, discard or delete them.

What does use the network

AI models, downloaded once

The first time a feature needs them, Hushpix downloads its AI models from models.hushpix.app, served by Cloudflare: the text recognition models (about 3 MB) and, in the next version, the object detector (about 7 MB). Like any web request, this reveals your IP address and the app version. No images, text or identifiers are sent, and every file is checked against a signed catalog before it’s used.

Google ML Kit

ML Kit finds faces, QR codes and details such as addresses on the phone. It sends device and app information, per-installation identifiers, API usage and performance diagnostics to Google, and downloads small language models from Google once. Images and recognition results are not sent.

Google Play

Purchases and restores go through Google Play, which may process purchase and device information under Google’s privacy policy.

Know the limits

Automatic detection is assistive and can miss details, so look over the whole image before you share. Blur and pixelation can leave clues; for sensitive text, use a solid cover.

FAQ

Questions and answers

Is Hushpix free?

The manual tools and full-quality export are free. Free exports carry a small Hushpix logo in the corner. Hushpix Pro is a one-time Google Play purchase that adds the AI tools, batch cover, the export check and exports without the watermark. There is no subscription.

Do my photos ever leave my phone?

Not to us. Hushpix processes images on your device and doesn’t upload them, the text it recognizes or your edits. A photo leaves your phone only when you share the edited copy with an app you choose, and that app’s own privacy practices then apply.

Why does Hushpix use the internet at all?

To download its AI models the first time they’re needed, to buy or restore Hushpix Pro through Google Play, and because Google ML Kit sends diagnostics to Google. Manual editing never needs a connection.

Are blur and pixelation safe?

They can be partly reversed, especially on text. For numbers, names and other text, use a solid cover. With Hushpix Pro, the export check tells you when text is only pixelated or blurred.

Will it find every private detail?

No. Automatic detection is assistive and can miss things, so always look over the whole image before you share it.

Does it remove location data?

Yes. Saving creates a new image without the original’s EXIF location or camera information, and the original isn’t changed.

Is there a size limit?

Very large photos are scaled down to fit within 12 megapixels when they open.

Which phones and languages are supported?

Android 8.0 or later. The app is available in English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Turkish, Indonesian, Vietnamese and Thai. Text recognition reads Chinese, English and many other languages written in the Latin alphabet.

When can I get it?

Hushpix is coming soon to Google Play. This page will link to it once it’s available.
